Lowther Castle Daffodils:

Lowther Castle in Cumbria is famous for its beautiful gardens and stunning landscapes.

Lowther Castle Daffodils

On 24th April this year, it became home to a unique new art installation; 10,000 ceramic daffodils created by locally-based potter, Helen Ratcliffe.

The ceramic daffodils were created to look identical to real daffodils, but each one is unique in its own way, just like real flowers.

The installation was carefully ‘planted’ in the fields around Lowther Castle, creating a sea of yellow that stretches as far as the eye can see. The effect is stunning, and visitors are encouraged to wander around the grounds and take in the sight.

The aim of the project is to raise money for six amazing charities while creating a beautiful art installation in its own right.

Helen Ratcliffe is a ceramic artist known for her intricate and delicate work, and the ceramic daffodils are no exception.

Each one was individually crafted by an army of around 350 volunteers from the community.

The attention to detail is remarkable, with the petals, stems, and leaves of the daffodils, all meticulously crafted to create a lifelike effect.

The daffodils will be on display at Lowther until June 24th.

In addition to the ceramic daffodil installation, Lowther Castle has many other attractions to offer visitors.

In conclusion, the 10,000 ceramic daffodil installation at Lowther Castle is a beautiful and thought-provoking work of art.

If you get a chance to visit, be sure to take a stroll through the fields and take in the sight and the message behind it.

The ceramic daffodils are available to purchase at a cost £25 each plus postage and packaging.
