Our holiday cottage is based in Grange-over-Sands, a charming town located on the edge of the Lake District National Park which boasts captivating views of Morecambe Bay and the surrounding fells. It’s an excellent place to stay if you want to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in England.

Stay at Lothlorien and you will be a stone’s throw from the Lakeland Fells, a series of mountain ranges, peaks, and hillsides spread across the Lake District.

The Lakeland Fells are home to some of the highest peaks in England, including Scafell Pike, which is the highest mountain in England, standing at 978 meters (3,209 feet) above sea level. Other notable peaks include Helvellyn, Skiddaw, and Coniston Old Man.

Grange-over-Sands is ideal if you’re looking for a quieter corner of the Lake District.

Many people head to this part of the world to escape the rat race and enjoy a tranquil time with family or friends. Compared to many towns in the Lake District, Grange-over-Sands has a quieter, more laid back atmosphere. If you’re craving the peace and comfort of natural surroundings, it could be the ideal place for you.

It’s based in the South Lakes, an area which boasts some of the most wonderful landscapes in the Lake District, typified by rolling hills, rich green valleys, sparkling lakes and rugged mountains.

The area is scattered with historic sites and attractions, from ancient stone circles and historic houses, to picturesque villages like Hawkshead and Grasmere.

The renowned children’s author Beatrix Potter had strong connections to the South Lakes area. She lived in the region for much of her life and drew inspiration from its landscapes and wildlife for her beloved tales, such as “The Tale of Peter Rabbit.”

If you’re partial to Victorian charm, you’ll find that Grange-over-Sands has bundles of it.

The town retains plenty of features from the era, including an elegant promenade, ornamental gardens and architecture. It’s the ideal place to visit after taking walks in the Lake District if you love historical buildings.

Other attractions include the Cartmel Peninsula and the historic lido. Furthermore, the town hosts regular events and festivals throughout the year, showcasing local culture and heritage.
