How Beautiful is Kentmere?

The Kentmere Valley is a hidden gem, situated away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular tourist spots in the Lake District.

It is a peaceful and serene place, perfect for those looking to escape the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with nature.

To this day, the valley remains largely unspoiled, being just off the main tourist route and only accessible by car.

One of the main attractions of the Kentmere Valley is its stunning scenery. The valley is surrounded by rolling hills and Lakeland fells, providing stunning views no matter where you look.

Undoubtedly, Kentmere Valley is home to some of the quietest fells to walk in Cumbria.

Additionally, with its natural beauty, the Kentmere Valley is also home to a number of interesting historic sites, such as Kentmere Hall, a fortified farmstead with a  14th-century Pele tower, built for protection against the Border raiders.

The remains of an old lead mine can be found in the valley, along with a number of ancient stone circles and cairns. These ancient sites provide a fascinating glimpse into the area’s past and are well worth exploring.

If you’re a nature lover, then the Kentmere Valley is a must-visit destination.  You can visit the source of the River Kent, rising from beneath the crags at the head of the valley and flowing on through Burneside and Kendal and out into the flat expanse of the Kent Estuary and into Morecambe Bay.

Kentmere church is dedicated to St Cuthbert, standing upon a knoll in the middle of the valley. It is loved far and wide being simple and plain in construction which fit in well in such stunning surroundings.
