Brockhole – Lake District Visitor Centre
Brockhole – Lake District Visitor Centre is situated at Brockhole on the shores of Lake Windermere.
Brockhole is far more than just a tourist information centre.
There is enough here to keep the whole family entertained for the day.
The National Park’s visitor centre occupies the late Victorian Brockhole House – once the home of a Lancashire cotton king.
The Grounds at Brockhole
The Centre at Brockhole boasts 30 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, running right down to the lakeshore, where it is possible to catch the launch to Bowness or Lakeside.
The grounds have magnificent views across Windermere to the Langdales.
They were designed by Thomas Mawson and include, among other things, magnificent displays of magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias.
You’ll also find an amazing adventure playground, the Tree Top Trek high ropes experience and mini-golf.
The grounds also include an art trail – lines of poetry and unusual sculptures are among the pieces of art on display.
Furthermore, entry is free to the visitor centre, grounds and lakeshore.
Other attractions include exhibitions and informal dining options.
