The Cartmel Racecourse is a delightful small national hunt racecourse based two miles from Grange-over-Sands, where our cottage is also located. 

Here, horse racing fans can watch incredible jumps by thoroughbreds in the beautiful scenery of the Lake District. The venue holds nine race days each year, kicking off on the Whit Holiday weekend at the end of May and ending on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The race course has various enclosures with different dress codes, restrictions and access levels, so it’s important to do your research before buying tickets. Since these are popular races, it’s important to book a place to stay as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
