Holker Hall and Gardens 2021:
Holker Hall is 3 miles from Lothlorien and has been the family home of the Cavendish Family, dating back to the 16th century.
In 1871 a devastating fire destroyed the west wing, which was subsequently rebuilt in sandstone.
Today, the whole of this wing is open to visitors to wander around at will.
Furthermore, there is a magnificent library, fine panelling and a cantilevered staircase.
The adjacent courtyard contains a café, gift shop and food hall selling local Cumbrian produce.
Holker Hall is also known for its stunning gardens which are an oasis of colour and calm.
Their plans for reopening in 2021 have been announced.
The gardens and cafe are set to reopen on March 31st with the cafe operating as a takeaway service only.
Additionally, on April 14th the gift shop and outside seating will become available in the courtyard.
What is more, indoor seating will be available on May 19th.
Finally, the hall will open with hourly guided tours from June 23rd.
