Cartmel Agricultural Show
The society was founded in 1872 and traditionally, Cartmel Show always takes place on the first Wednesday in August.
The society was originally formed on June 10th, during a meeting in the Cavendish Arms in the village.
After a two-year absence due to the global pandemic, organisers have revealed an increase in competitors this year. In particular, the sheep section enjoyed huge numbers of entries.
Livestock and horse classes will take centre stage on show day with the introduction of the Valais Blacknose sheep class being a new entry to the show.
The show is put on with dedicated volunteers, and, with the increased number of entries made, the whole day a great success.
Cartmel Show is a great family day out, and, as ever, local food producers will play a large part on the day with the Cumbrian Food Hall displaying food and drink to keep punters refreshed
Cartmel is two miles west of Grange-over-Sands.
Tickets are available on their website or on the gate on the day.
For visitors who arrive by train, there will be a shuttle bus from Cark station to the show field.
Cartmel is a lovely village just west of Grange-over-Sands, with a beautiful square, an old village pump and a nice river, the Eea, running through it.
